Letter to Santa Claus

Come mail your letter to Santa at the library!
Bring your letter to the library and we will give you an envelope to write your name on. You can then put your letter in Santa’s special mailbox.

Don’t forget to sign your name if you want him to write back to you!

But you have to hurry; you have until December 2nd at 9:00 p.m. to bring your letter.

An activity is planned for Friday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m. where you will receive your reply from Santa. You will also be able to participate in a  scavenger hunt!

Sick Caterpillars

Image result for chenille monarque

It saddens us to tell you that our caterpillars passed away last week.

They caught a parasite that is very common among Monarch caterpillars: Ophryocystis elektroscirrha (pronounced O-free-us-sis-tus Electra-sceer-rah).

It is a protozoan -- single-celled -- parasite.

The parasite's spores contaminated the plant that the caterpillars were using for food, which caused them to become ill and die.

According to the specialists at the Insectarium, it's one of the risks that comes along with raising Monarch caterpillars.

We would like to thank you for participating in this project.
