Celebrate Expo67's 50th anniversary with the City of Beaconsfield! 

If you live in Beaconsfield, bring a piece of identification with your address on it to claim your Expo67 Souvenir Passport at the Library! You can collect stamps by completing activities, just like the kids that visited Montreal's incredible World Fair in 1967! 

How can I collect stamps?

To collect stamps, you need to have your Expo67 Souvenir Passport. You also need to take part in certain activities:

"Design Your Dream Playground" Activity

For Beaconsfield residents, ages 6 to 12, with a parent. Registration required. 
At the Library, on Saturday, September 30 2017, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

During Expo67, children ages 10 and under were really happy to play at the Canadian Pavilion's playground. But what was so special about that particular playground? Become playground savvy by discovering how things were done and how things are done now, and help us design your dream playground with the other kids! Come with your most creative and original ideas!

Mini-Quiz
For children of all ages
At the Library, right now.

Learn a little bit more about Expo67 by answering a mini-quiz. To do so, visit the reference desk at the Library and answer the questions on the bookmark we will give you. Once you have finished, you will receive your stamp.

Visit the « Expo67: Canada's Centennial Crown Jewel » exhibit, presented by the Beaurepaire-Beaconsfield Historical Society

Come look at rare artifacts from the Gary W. Sims collection. Sims started his collection when he was 14 years old. He had special access to the Expo67 site because he was Press Correspondent for the Lachine Messenger when he was 17 years old.

Summer reading closing party !

Congratulations to all the winners this year ! We had a blast at the party and a beautiful day to go with it. We would like to thank everybody for their participation and their dedication all summer long. We had a phenomenal summer because of all of you!

Summer reading club staff

Reminder: Summer Reading Wrap-Up Party

We will be holding our annual Summer Reading Wrap-Up Party on Thursday, August 17 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Centennial Park. (If it rains, the event will take place at the Recreation Centre).

We will be unveiling the winners of the grand prizes, drawing among the top card and sticker collectors, and unveiling the biggest readers in the pre-reader and junior reader category, as well as drawing door prizes for those in attendance.

After the prize draws, there will be a dance party animated by Funky Feet!

Please be sure to let us know if you are coming. The event begins at 1:30 so please arrive at least 5 to 10 minutes in advance. We ask that you please wear red and white and bring lawn chairs, if possible.

We hope to see you on Thursday afternoon!

Please note: Even though we are no longer giving coupons, you can still bring in your SRC bookmarks to turn in your reading hours until Tuesday, August 15 at 9 p.m.

A mascot in the library

We now have a mascot in the library. The penguin is called Punka !! 

Punka is enjoying the last weeks of the summer by playing in the pool and having fun on the beach. Punka came to take a break at the library to read and meet new people. 

Back to school season is coming fast for Punka too!!

Prince Edward Island & Nova Scotia

Did you Know....?
Though Prince Edward Island is tiny, is it known as the Birthplace of Confederation; Nova Scotia was one of the first four provinces to join Canada in 1867.

There is still room in the activities that will take place at the Library this week. If you would like to register your child for an activity, please come see us at the Summer Reading Club desk.

We will have our last weekly draw next Monday morning. Please don't forget to bring your summer reading bookmarks to the Library!

Please note that the deadline to bring in your bookmarks for coupons is Friday, August 11. We will continue to accept bookmarks until next Tuesday, but no coupons will be awarded after Friday, August 11.

Reminder: the summer reading party will take place on Thursday, August 17 at 1:30 p.m. We will be distributing reading certificates and drawing many prizes that day, so we hope that you can attend!

During this fun music workshop, you can play instruments, sing, dance, and practice your motor skills. (Activity animated by Les Productions Bataclan.)

Introduction to Film Dubbing - in French (ages 7-17) - $2/members, $5/non-members
Wednesday, August 9 from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
Using an animated short film, act out the role of an on-screen character by reading the on-screen scrolling text and synchronizing your voice to the character's mouth movements. (Activity animated by Les Productions Bataclan.)

Getting creative at the library !!

In the past few weeks we have been busy at the library doing all sorts of activities. 

Some of them were crafts and everybody had a lot of fun !!! 

We did the hedgehog craft and the moose for the Quebec week and then the Jellyfish dance for the New Brunswick week.
