Fun activities await you at the library this weekend for Culture Days!

Saturday, September 29

Storytime and craft : La chaîne du livre (in French)
10 :30 to 11 :30 a.m. - ages 8-12
Come and listen to an animated storytime featuring the job of an author and the field of book publishing. After the story, get your craft on!

Sunday, September 30

Free, drop-in activities
From 1 to 5 p.m., in the children’s reference section, for all ages!

Come and have fun with words! Instructions and materials will be available all day!
  • Blackout Poetry, for you to keep or to hang on our Poetry Banner
  • Haikus, yours to keep or to hang on our Poetry Banner
  • Contribute to the Library’s Exquisite Corpse game.
  • Make a bookmark, yours to keep!

Thank you for a great summer!

We had a great reading party yesterday; so many of you came out to enjoy the fun! Thank you for your enthusiastic participation and your 5 310.5 hours of reading! Thank you for making this summer our best summer ever!

We would greatly appreciate it if you could fill out our end-of-summer survey so we can improve even more next year.

Reminder: Summer Reading Wrap-Up Party


Don't forget! Our amazing summer reading party is taking place on Thursday, August 16 at 2 p.m. at Centennial (we're expecting nice weather)! There will be treats, prize draws, and a fantastic tam-tam show presented by Kattam!

Please bring your lawn/camp chairs!

One last sprint to the finish line!


Can you believe it? The Summer Reading Club is almost over! We can't believe it either. It went by so quickly, and we have had so much fun! 

Now it's time to celebrate the 4 000+ hours read by Beaconsfield kids! We have planned a  big party to thank you for your enthusiastic participation this summer!

Here is the important information you need to know for the 2018 TD Summer Reading wrap-up party: 
  •  Date: Thursday, August 16
  • Time: the party begins at  2 p.m., but try to arrive for 1:30 p.m.!
  • Show: Kattam and his Tam-Tams! 
  • Reading certificates, door prizes, grand prize draw and prizes for the best readers in each category!
As you can see, it's an event you won't want to miss!

Confirm your presence at the Summer Reading Club desk, or by sending an e-mail to stagiaire.biblio@beaconsfield.ca.

Reminder:

You have until Tuesday, August 14, at 9 p.m. to come record your reading hours to have the chance to earn an entry in the grand prize draw! It's time to do a sprint for the finish line in order to achieve the number of hours required to be eligible for the draw!
  • Pre-readers: 8 hours 
  • Junior readers & Teen readers: 40 hours

Get Creative At Your Library!


We can't believe that we are already nearly at the last week of the Summer Reading Club! It's gone by so quickly! It's time to do a reading blitz to earn a place in the grand prize draw! Don't forget to bring your reading bookmark to the library to turn in your reading hours! And don't forget to confirm your presence at our super wrap-up party with Kattam and his Tam-Tams on Thursday, August 16 at 2 p.m.!



For our last week, from August 6th to 12th, our theme will be creative art!

Here is a schedule of the activities that will be taking place at the library next week :

For the whole family (free, drop-in)
  • Monday, August 6 from 2 to 3 p.m.: DUPLO & LEGO Club (ages 3 to 12) - Come show us your building skills!
  • Tuesday, August 7 from 11 to 11:30 a.m.: Storytime at Windermere Park – Stories, songs, and rhymes!
  • Thursday, August 9 from 10 to 10:30 a.m.: Family Storytime – Stories, songs, and rhymes!
  • Friday, August 10 from 10 to 11 a.m.: Crafty Friday – Paper Roll Ninjas
  • Friday, August 10 from 2 to 2:30 p.m.: Storytime at Beacon Hill Park – Stories, songs, and rhymes!
For Preschoolers
  •  Tuesday, August 7 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.:  PLAY-DOH Party! (ages 4 to 8) – Come make clay sculptures with the library's tools and toys! Registration required at the library. ($2 for members)
For School-Aged Children
  • Monday, August 6 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Monday Evening LEGO and Crafts (ages 7 to 12) - Come do the weekly LEGO challenge or make a craft!
  • Wednesday, August 8 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.: Knitting Club (ages 7 to 12) – Learn to knit while making a scarf for your favourite stuffed animal! Free, drop-in.
  • Thursday, August 9 from 2 to 3 p.m.: Clay Tile Art (ages 6 to 12) – Decorate your own clay tile inspired by patterns from around the world! Registration required at the library ($2 for members). 
For Teens
  • Tuesday, August 7  at 6:30 p.m. My Room's Got Style! (ages 10 to 17) - Come create different fun accessories to organize and decorate your room! Registration required at the library ($2 for members). 
  • Please note that though the Dungeons and Dragons activity (ages 10 to 17) taking place on Wednesday, August 8 at 6:30 p.m. is full, we are accepting names for the waiting list.
