Animals at the Library?

We have had a record number of registrations so far for our TD Summer Reading Club! Way to go, Beaconsfield!

Still not registered? Come visit us at the Library during the week (Monday-Friday), and be sure to come visit us at the Canada Day festivities at Centennial Park on Sunday, July 1!

Next week, from July 3^rd to July 9^th our theme will be animals!

Here is a schedule of the activities that will be taking place at the library next week:

For the whole family (free, drop-in)

• Tuesday, July 3 from 11 to 11:30 a.m.: Storytime at Windermere Park  – Stories, songs, and rhymes.

• Thursday, July 5 from 10 to 10:30 a.m.: Family Storytime. – Stories, songs, and rhymes.

• Friday, July 6 from 10 to 11 a.m.: Crafty Friday – Make a zebra puppet.

• Friday, July 6 from 2 to 2:30 p.m.: Storytime at Beacon Hill Park  – Stories, songs, and rhymes.

      For preschoolers

• Tuesday, July 3 from 2 to 3 p.m.  All About Birds (for ages 4-6, presented by Le Nichoir) – Learn about what makes birds different from other animals. Featuring stories, games, and crafts! Registration required at the library. ($2/members, $5/non-members)

       For school-aged children

•   Wednesday, July 4 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Knitting Club (for ages 7-12).  - Learn to knit, creating a scarf for a stuffed animal friend. Free, drop-in.

• Friday, July 6 from 2 to 3 p.m.: SPVM Canine Unit (for ages 5-12) – Meet a K-9 police officer and his dog. Registration required at the library.  ($2/members, $5/non-members)  Hurry, there are only a few spots left!

       For teens

• Tuesday, July 3 at 6:30 p.m.: Movie: The Karate Kid (1984). In English with French subtitles. Free, drop-in.

Please note that though the Dungeons & Dragons activity that will be taking place on Wednesday, July 4 at 6:30 p.m. (for 10-17 year-olds) is full, we are accepting names for the waiting list.

TD Summer Reading Club Registration

It's almost here! We can't wait!

As of Monday, June 18 at 1 p.m., last year's TD Summer Reading Club participants can register for the 2018 edition of the TD Summer Reading Club to get a head start on their summer reading adventure!

Those who have not participated in the past can join the club starting on Sunday, June 24 by registering at our kiosk at Beaconsfield's Saint-Jean-Baptiste festivities at Centennial Park, or by coming to the Library as of Tuesday, June 26.

How it works: for each hour of reading you do this summer, you will be entered into our weekly prize draw!

Kids aged 6 to 17 who read for 40 hours or more all summer long will have a chance to win one of two Samsung Galaxy E lite tablets!

New this year: parents can also participate with their kids as a family for a chance to win cool family prizes at the end of the summer!

We can't wait to see you at the library this summer!

Journées de la Culture 2017 - Expo67 Frenzy!

Celebrate Expo67's 50th anniversary with the City of Beaconsfield! 

If you live in Beaconsfield, bring a piece of identification with your address on it to claim your Expo67 Souvenir Passport at the Library! You can collect stamps by completing activities, just like the kids that visited Montreal's incredible World Fair in 1967! 

How can I collect stamps?

To collect stamps, you need to have your Expo67 Souvenir Passport. You also need to take part in certain activities:

"Design Your Dream Playground" Activity

For Beaconsfield residents, ages 6 to 12, with a parent. Registration required. 
At the Library, on Saturday, September 30 2017, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

During Expo67, children ages 10 and under were really happy to play at the Canadian Pavilion's playground. But what was so special about that particular playground? Become playground savvy by discovering how things were done and how things are done now, and help us design your dream playground with the other kids! Come with your most creative and original ideas!

Mini-Quiz
For children of all ages
At the Library, right now.

Learn a little bit more about Expo67 by answering a mini-quiz. To do so, visit the reference desk at the Library and answer the questions on the bookmark we will give you. Once you have finished, you will receive your stamp.

For children of all ages
At the Library, from Sunday, September 24 to Thursday, October 26.

Come look at rare artifacts from the Gary W. Sims collection. Sims started his collection when he was 14 years old. He had special access to the Expo67 site because he was Press Correspondent for the Lachine Messenger when he was 17 years old.
