Spotlight on March Break

It's cold! Are you already looking forward to March Break? From March 2 to March 6, there will be lots to do at the Beaconsfield Library! During this special week, you will be able to participate in activities highlighting Quebec traditions: carnival, folklore, musical instruments, Aboriginal peoples, the sugar shack, and others


Monday, March 2 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm
Carnival Games (ages 7 to 12)
Join us for an afternoon of fun with games on the theme of the famous Quebec winter carnival.
Free. Drop-in.




Tuesday, March 3 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm
A Day with the Aboriginal People 
(ages 7 to 12)
Learn about Quebec’s aboriginal peoples while creating your own art objects.
Reservation fee: $2. To register : Come to the library. 


Wednesday, March 4 from 10:00 to 11:30 am
Make Your Own Musical Instruments 
(ages 7 to 12)
Make your own musical instruments using recycled objects.
Reservation fee: $2. To register : Come to the library. 


Wednesday, March 4 at 2:00 pm
Film screening: NICOSTRATOS THE PELICAN  (ages 6 and +)
14–year–old Yannis lives on a small Greek island that has remained untouched. Since his mother's death, his relationship with his father has become strained. Yannis rescues a young pelican and the bird becomes his friend. A special activity will follow the movie screening.

Thursday, March 5 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm
Folktales and legends (ages 7 to 12)
Come and listen to traditional legends that will take you back to the time of the fur traders!
Reservation fee: $2. To register : Come to the library. 


Friday, March 6 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm
Visit the Sugar Shack (for the whole family)
Learn about one of Quebec’s most popular traditions. Bring your musical instruments (spoons, etc.) and your plaid shirt. The activity will finish with a maple taffy tasting.
Reservation fee: $2. To register : Come to the library.
